Ideas for action

There are a lot of things you can do to make a difference. From dipping your toe in the water......to swimming the Channel

  • Selling Palestinian products like olive oil and handicrafts in your church or mosque is a great
    way to support Palestinian people.
Zaytoun, who sells Palestinian olive oil and Hadeel who sells handicrafts are always looking for distributors.
  •  Put on a screening and discussion of a film that shows the reality of the situation in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. One possibility is Garth Hewitt’s ‘Bethlehem – Hidden from View’. You could also show ‘With God on Our Side’.
  • Write to your local MP to express your support for Palestinian rights or you could even arrange to meet them during their surgery hours. You can find out who your MP is and how to contact them here. For more specific issues relating to Palestine which you can write about keep up to date with the Just Peace blog.
  • You could join a local Palestinian campaigning group. Organisations like Palestine Solidarity Campaign have local branches. You can find out here if there’s one near you.
  • Twin your church, community, or school with a Palestinian counterpart in Palestine/Israel.  Twinning is a great way to understand what everyday life is like for people in Palestine. The British Council runs a school twinning project and Twinning with Palestine twins churches and communities.
  • Visit Palestine/Israel to learn more about the situation and meet the people. Individuals can join Amos Trust’s yearly trip or you can find out more about organising a group visit on our trips page.
  • Boycott Israeli goods and write to the producers explaining why you have stopped buying their products or using their services. The BDS movement website provides information about this. Keep checking this website too and our blog for targeted boycott campaigns.
  • Finally, keep up to date with the Just Peace for Palestine blog and join us on facebook. You can read about the latest events and news relating to Palestine as well as finding frequently updated ideas for action.
